Supervising Correctional Nurse

The County of Riverside has a continuous recruitment for Registered Nurses to work at its Detention Centers and Correctional Facilities. Our nurses provide direct and indirect nursing care to children or adult patients; collaborate with physicians conducting sick calls and in examining and treating patients and may instruct institutional staff in emergency first aid techniques. The ideal candidate will possess the self-control required to keep their emotions under control and avoid aggressive behavior even in difficult situations. You need to be able to accept criticism and deal calmly and effectively with high stress situations. The Supervising Institutional Nurse is responsible for operations of jail and juvenile facilities located in the Eastern County Region. Facilities include Blythe Jail, Indio Jail and Indio Juvenile Hall. The Supervising Institutional Nurse will ensure compliance of staff to policies and procedures and coordinate all facility inspections and reviews. This position receives medical direction from physicians and reports administratively to management staff in charge of the institution. Correctional Nurses plan and provide nursing care to children or adults in detention facilities; initiates treatment in medical emergencies; dresses wounds; makes routine medical observations and refers patients to physicians as necessary.
REQUIREMENTS
Managerial and supervisory skills required with a minimum of two years of experience as a registered nurse in an acute care hospital or health care agency and the ability to possess and maintain a current valid CA RN is required. Correctional experience at the Supervisory/Management level a plus. BSN preferred.
