Purchasing Manager / Senior Buyer

We are currently seeking a Purchasing Manager / Senior Buyer in our Industry City, CA location. The individual selected for this position will manage, develop and provide leadership to a buying team responsible for the day to day procurement of products, which could include fresh/perishable product. This person will have the opportunity to bring new ideas and new levels of sophistication to an already highly talented group of buyers.
Among the major duties of this position are…Sourcing new products to add to our current offerings
Sourcing alternative vendors
Negotiating pricing to maintain competitive, profitable product offerings
Evaluating and proposing alternatives to current systems, policies and procedures as they pertain to procurement
Developing, managing, mentoring and providing leadership to the buying teamWorking with, and assisting the Sales and Marketing teams to help sell new concepts and programs to the customer base.
REQUIREMENTS
To be considered, a candidate should possess, and demonstrate, the following…BS or BA Degree in Business, Food Preparation or related field
5+ years industry specific food/grocery purchasing management experience
Strong negotiation skills with suppliers
Must have top notch leadership skills
