This is an Occupational Therapist Grade II position (under review); permanent fulltime Grade I. The position plays a pivotal role in providing site-specific leadership and mentoring of new staff. The successful applicant will have more advanced skills in practice and leadership.
JOB SUMMARY:
Within the context of a client and family centred care model and in accordance with established standards of professional practice, and the vision and values of Vancouver Coastal Health, this position works under the general supervision of another Occupational Therapist and provides occupational therapy services to enable clients to achieve and maintain optimal health outcomes. Duties include assessing client’s occupational performance utilizing an evidence-based approach, planning and implementing goal directed services, evaluating the effectiveness of the service, preparing and maintaining records, participating in interdisciplinary research, demonstrating safe and effective resource utilization and quality management and contributing to the development, review and promotion of occupational therapy services.As required, contributes to the organization and delivery of occupational therapy services, and participates in departmental/program quality improvement initiatives, meetings, research and education.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's or entry-level Master's degree (or equivalent)in Occupational Therapy. Registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia. Member of the British Columbia Society of Occupational Therapists and/or the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapist.
Valid B.C. driver’s license in good standing is required. There may be some local area travel which requires the use of a personal vehicle for which mileage reimbursement is paid.
An ability to speak a second language may be required. Basic knowledge of evidence-based clinical practice related to designated clinical area. Basic knowledge of occupational therapy standardised tests and measures. Broad knowledge of occupational therapy theory and practice within a client and family centred model of care. Basic knowledge of research process and methodology.
