we are currently seeking a dedicated Health Information Medical Records Coder III.

Since 1963, Barton Memorial Hospital has served the healthcare needs of our community and continues to expand as those needs increase. The Barton HealthCare System consists of these main entities: Barton Memorial Hospital, Stateline Medical Center, Tahoe Family Physicians, Job’s Peak Internal Medicine, Job’s Peak Pediatrics, Barton Community Clinic and two, off-site, winter seasonal clinics located at Heavenly and Sierra-at-Tahoe ski resort.

HIM / Medical Records Coder III Position Overview:Codes medical records using ICD-9 and CPT-4 codingEnsures accurate submission of all coding data for reimbursement purposes.Ensures Regulatory Compliance – follows all Federal regulations for prospective payment systems and ambulatory payment systems.The HIM Coder III reports to the Lead Coder.
REQUIREMENTS


HIM / Medical Records Coder III Minimum Requirements:
Sufficient computer skills as would be required to complete an online application and the pre-employment/annual Net Learning requirementsIn compliance with patient safety standards, must be able to effectively communicate in EnglishHigh School diploma or equivalent education/experienceA minimum of two years experience with in-patient and outpatient and/or ER coding in an acute facility.Knowledge and application of ICD-9, CPT-4 coding. Medical terminology, understanding of disease processes and anatomy and physiology.Knowledge of APC’s, DRG’s and other payment systemsCCS, RHIA or RHIT certification required
