There is never a dull day at our agency. We work with people with developmental disabilities and assist them in living in their own homes. In return, they grant us meaning to our lives. I can't say every day is stress free; I can only say you go home feeling like you've made a difference. The hours can be varied- we're looking for people to work evenings, and a Saturday or Sunday is a must.

It's a great job for someone with creative energy- someone who can keep things lively or enjoys a lively atmosphere. The people living in our homes need assistance and instruction in hygiene, cooking, cleaning, transportation, and having fun. Being able to listen and learn is paramount. We offer paid pre-service amd in-service training, but the residents are the real teachers.

REQUIREMENTS
HOUSEHOLD MANAGEMENT TASKS:
1. Dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, and other light cleaning activities.
2. Preparation of meals, or the set up of the kitchen for the individual to prepare meals.
3. Doing dishes and/or operating the dishwasher.
4. Laundry, folding clothes, light ironing.
5. Organization of drawers, closets, etc.
6. Maintenance of assistive devices.

CHORES/ERRANDS
1. Trips for banking, food shopping, laundry, clothes shopping, and errands with or without the individual.

INDIVIDUAL CARE
1. Assistance with bathing, grooming (including shaving and dental care) and dressing.
2. Assistance with established exercise program directed by the individual (not physical therapy).
3. Assistance with application/removal of braces, splints or similar devices.
4. Transfer from bed to chair and reverse.
5. Assistance with eating.
6. Turning and repositioning in bed.

MOBILITY
1. Pushing wheelchair or guiding walking.
2. Accompanying on public or private transportation.
3. Transfer of individual in/out of vehicle.
4. Driving individual.
5. Orienting individual to home or work environments.

COMMUNICATION
1. Writing and reading for the individual.
2. Answering of the telephone.
3. Assistance in using augmentative communication devices.
4. Writing or reading for record keeping.
5. Professional speaking with other staff and individuals.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, be over the age of 18, and a valid driver's license.
