Dental Hygienist
Full-time or part-time positions at military dental clinics at San Diego Naval Facilities or at Camp Pendleton Marine Corp Base. Patients are active duty military members and new recruits. Clinic hours are usually 7:00-4:00, Monday-Friday. Great working environment with up-to-date facilities and equipment.DUTIES: Complete oral prophylaxis, root planing, subgingival debridement and tissue management. Review medical / dental history. Make referrals for medical / dental records. Perform fluoride treatments. Apply pit / fissure sealants. Assist in training Dental Assistants in preventive dentistry procedures. Clean and maintain work area to meet clinic and infection control standards. Become familiar with and follow Navy standardized concepts of Phased Dentistry and Managed Dental Care.
REQUIREMENTS
•Must have an AS or BS in Dental Hygiene from an American Dental Association approved program.
•Must have an active state license in one of the 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam or the Virgin Islands.
•Must have at least 12 hours of continuing education in the past 18 months.
•Continuing education is not required if you graduated in the past 12 months.
•Administration of local infiltration anesthesia is not a required qualification; however, if the appropriate training and credentials exist, clinical privileges may be granted by the Commanding Officer upon request.
