Buyer (procurement / purchasing)

Job Title: Buyer (procurement / purchasing) – Heavy Equipment Aftermarket Parts

Department: Operations

Primary Objective of Position:

To coordinate and perform the activities involved with procuring goods and services related to the CAT/Heavy Equipment aftermarket. Duties include, but are not limited to:

Position Responsibilities:
•Review RFPs/IFBs/RFQs. Confer with inside sales/suppliers/on-line sources to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, freight costs and delivery schedule.
•Cross-reference part numbers from various suppliers into CAT part/serial number. Provide basic/limited applications information to end users/customers.
•Prepare and release quotations/proposal, purchase orders, change orders and credits/RTV.
•In house inventory and making recommendations on inventory that needs to be ordered/stocked.
•Compiles, analyzes, reports and interprets product sales information to support key vendor servicing decisions.
•Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with suppliers, manufacturers and others to determine root cause and take corrective/preventive action.
•Reviews and takes timely action on the order due reports. Prioritizes PO follow-up actions. Expedites delivery of goods to users.
•Seeks out new suppliers. Work with suppliers to reduce lead-times, costs, etc.
•Schedules and attends meetings with and visits to customers and suppliers as needed.
•Compile & use information from periodicals, catalogs, and other industry sources to keep informed on industry trends, manufacturers, and new aftermarket product availability.
•Prepares reports, correspondence and memos using Word, Excel.
REQUIREMENTS
Required Qualifications:

•An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field;
•Minimum 5+ years experience in similar position;
•Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Working knowledge of purchasing transactions;
•Knowledge and experience with MS Word and Excel.

•Ability to evaluate priorities, make recommendations and meet deadlines.
