BA hiring IT staff again

British Airways is set to launch a new recruitment drive for IT staff after four tough years of cost cuts and job losses.
The move follows closely on the back of news earlier this year that BA is actually increasing its investment in IT as part of the company's customer-enabled BA (ceBA) strategy to turn the airline's fortunes around.
There are 40 new IT positions being created in BA's Information Management (IM) department, ranging from project managers to IT specialists. There are currently around 1,900 staff in IM.
Paul Coby, CIO at BA, toldthe roles range from the new technologies innovations unit to working on current operational systems that are part of ceBA.
"This is the first IM recruitment drive in four years which reflects the difficult times BA and the aviation industry has experienced," he said. "We have now arrived at point where in order for the airline to take these changes further forward, we are looking for people with energy, drive and ambition to help us deliver innovation across the airline. By doing this, we aim to ensure that IT remains at the heart and soul of British Airways. "
BA would not disclose the salary ranges for the new positions.
