Research Scientist I - IMMEDIATE NEEDS!

We have several immediate needs for motivated individuals to fill Research Scientist I positions with a leading manufacturer of analytical equipment and instrumentation in the Los Angeles area!

Position Summary:
Responsible for working with the R&D team to develop, enhance, or investigate new and/or existing separation methods and technology. This may include working in a team with synthetic and analytical chemists to develop new HPLC, SPE and other separation science consumables, as well as taking sole responsibility for developing new development, manufacturing, or analytical techniques used to create or improve products and technology. This role will also include support of new and existing products through application and applied technology work, in order to produce literature, seminars, publications, and training.

General Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Research, develop and present solution-oriented separation and sample preparation methods for "hot areas" based on company technology and products.

Study and understand analytical methods and problems within rapidly growing and/or relevant strategic areas of separation science in order to drive and direct development efforts.

Conceive, design and develop/Evaluate novel, efficient, reproducible, marketable and "scaleable" consumable technologies for the separation sciences, in line with company goals.

Effectively lead research projects within R&D, including proper planning, resource allocation, control and completion.

Assist in the development of novel technologies as part of the R&D team as required.

Develop applications for new products and technologies.

Develop meaningful and discriminating QC tests for all new products in conjunction with the QC Supervisor.

Support technical and manufacturing personnel in the transfer, optimization, scale-up, and troubleshooting of all new production methods and SOPs.

Maintain detailed, accurate, legible records of all experiments, and graph all relevant trend data along with the appropriate controls and blanks.

Maintain all instruments and equipment in excellent condition, keep all work areas neat and clean, and follow all safety procedures.

Supervise and assign work to research technicians if required for research programs.

Experience:

BS or MS in analytical chemistry or related field

2-4 years, HPLC method development experience in pharmaceutical drug metabolism, bioanalytical, drug discovery, or similar environment

1-2 years experience in solid-phase extraction

Some experience in LC/MS strongly preferred

Good basis of theoretical knowledge of chromatography

Working knowledge of current instrumentation, robotics, and automation is desired.

Strong ability to think "outside the box" and apply skills creatively to solve real-world chromatographic method/application problems.

Outgoing personality with excellent English and presentation skills, and a love for public speaking.

Fluency in a foreign language is a plus.
