Research Associate II/III (Chemistry)

Purpose: A local BioPharmaceutical company in the Bay Area has an immediate opportunity for an Organic Chemist.


Position Description:

We are looking for chemist with a high degree of motivation, creativity, and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment. The person filling this position will be involved in design and conduct multi-step syntheses of small molecules to screen in our medicinal chemistry program.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-Design and conduct multi-step syntheses of small molecules for biological evaluation.
-Maintain detailed laboratory notebook of results.
-Summarizes and interprets data and can present findings both in oral and written form.
-Attends group and project meetings as required.
-Attends seminars as required.
-Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include:
-This position requires a BS/ MS degree in synthetic organic chemistry with a minimum of two years experience in either industry or academia.
-Ability to perform multi-step synthesis on milligram to gram scale.
-Requires proficiency in purification methods and modern analytical techniques (NMR, MS, HPLC). Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Able to work independently as well as within a team-based environment.
-Previous experience with independent research projects is highly desired.
