SUMMARY
To provide a professional source of security advice and assistance for all Group organizations in the region to protect personnel, property, products, information and, indirectly, the business image against the threats posed by crime, civil unrest, activism, extremism/terrorism, armed conflict, business espionage, illegal product diversion and counterfeiting.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Regional Security Director is the source of professional security expertise that provides specialist advice and assistance to all parts of the business in the region across the whole range of security measures designed to protect Group personnel, assets and other interests. The responsibility of the function cannot be measured in conventional terms of budget and number of subordinates. The incumbent is required to undertake independent operations and self-accountable decisions in both pre-planned visits and incident/emergency quick-response situations. The Director will work with regional MCPs, other Group Security Directors and the VP Security on issues that are cross-region or affect the whole Group. Tasks include identification and evaluation of threats, vulnerabilities and risks on which countermeasures must be based. The establishment and maintenance of high-level contacts and liaison is critical to success in obtaining privileged and sensitive information on which authoritative assessments can be made and actions advised.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
•Promote the Group Security Policy and Standards and assist Group Companies employs cost-effective, fit-for-purpose security measures.
•Identify and evaluate threats, vulnerabilities and consequent risks to company personnel, property, products, information, reputation and other interests throughout the region.
•Quantify the risks in order to initiate protective strategies, develop countermeasures and formulate contingency and response plans.
•Develop and maintain security awareness, education and training including running seminars and workshops.
•Respond to requests for advice and assistance from regional management by means of security visits, surveys, investigations and briefings.
•Maintain an on-going interface with regional management and develop security accountability and professionalism within the hub and businesses.
•Establish and maintain high-level contacts in national and international government, armed forces, security, and intelligence or law enforcement agencies.
•Establish and maintain contacts with security specialists in the industrial and commercial security sectors
•Review and update Global Security guidelines.
•Work in concert with Global Security objectives.
REQUIREMENTS
The Regional Security Director, as, probably a specialist "second-careerists", must necessarily acquire professional knowledge, experience, expertise and contacts before joining this organization. Potential candidates' personal profiles are considered against the need to maintain a broad level of expertise and experience within Global Security. Desirable background includes elements of:
•Senior commercial/industrial security experience throughout the region
•Military/police service
•Staff officer/specialist training
•International security management training
•Command of a second language (Spanish and/or Portuguese)
•Commercial export/trade/marketing/sales knowledge
