The R&D Project Manager leads and manages cross-functional project teams in planning, organizing and executing new product development projects coordinating activities between various internal departments (e.g. R&D, Regulatory. Operations, Quality) and outside business partners.Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Essential functions and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Establishes and documents appropriate strategies, deliverables and comprehensive cross-functional project plans for new product development projects e.g. task analysis, work breakdown structures, time and event schedules, cost projections, resource requirements and risk/contingency plans)
Leads and coordinates cross-functional team activities to achieve defined project objectives ensuring appropriate monitoring, control and tracking of project status vs. plan
Maintains accurate and up-to-date project records, cross-functional communications, variance analysis (activity, resources and cost) and executes contingency plans when needed
Organizes, manages and motivates cross-functional team members to achieve project objectives
Coordinates and facilitates communication between cross-functional team members and outside business partners world-wide
Documents and reports progress, status and issues to project teams and management
Implements project management methodology to improve the new product development process, reduce development cycle times and ensure a steady flow of new products to achieve corporate strategic and financial goals
Supports and contributes to implementation of latest project and portfolio management tools/techniques within the R&D organization as well as cross-functional areas supporting new product developmentQualifications

Expertise in planning and project management tools/techniques
Experience with standard software applications including Microsoft Project
Diversified experience in pharmaceutical new product development
Experience and expertise in managing multidisciplinary groups demonstrated though previous project management assignments
Ability to handle multiple projects, duties and tasks
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to communicate complex information understandably to various audiences
Strong organizational and problem solving skills
Demonstrated leadership / interpersonal skills Education and/or Experience
