We have 32 medical sites located throughout the Greater Los Angeles, Pasadena/San Gabriel Valley, South Bay, Long Beach, and San Fernando Valley area.Responsible for performing patient oriented procedures under the supervision of a provider, registered nurse (RN), licensed vocational nurse (LVN) or Care Team Supervisor (CTS) to ensure patient receive appropriate care.Anticipates needs of provider and carries out provider orders.
Assists clinician with procedures (pap's, minor surgical procedures).
Checks for patient arrival and escorts patients from waiting room to exam room.
Obtains records, reports vital signs and any other pertinent patient information to the RN, LVN, CTS, or Clinician.
Maintains and cleans exam/treatment areas and medical equipment.
Performs autoclaving.
Performs procedures (i.e.: ear lavage, ECG, spirometry, breathing treatments, suture removal, wound dressing, vision-hearing tests and urine dip) and medication administration according to scope of practice and HCP guidelines.
Documents administration of procedures and medication.
Phlebotomy.
Instructs patients on routine lab and radiology tests.
Demonstrates proper collection and documentation of laboratory specimens.
Monitors expiration dates on sample meds and maintains samples.
Forwards all pre-op information to hospital or surgeon.
Adheres to standard precautions and safety policy and procedures at all times.
Ensures all forms are completed correctly.
Maintains department and procedural logs.
Provides medical records for patient to take to specialist.
Answers and directs in-coming calls and follows-up appropriately.
Obtain missing medical records or results from specialists, ICC's and/or ER.
Updates patient demographics.
Distributes incoming faxes.
Enters NOS (no show) patient info in IDX.
Maintains printers.
Participates in QI projects.
Schedules appointments.
Takes messages for Clinician.
Works bump list.
Maintains tickler file for orders.
Assures all encounter forms are accounted for and completed.
Calls patients as requested by clinician.
Performs chart audits.
Conducts new patient orientation phase II.
Escorts patient to any ancillary services as needed.
Handles prescription refills.
Completes and updates immunization forms.
Follows all HCP policies and procedures.
Responsible for other duties as assigned by supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS
A high school diploma or G.E.D.
Certificate of completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Phlebotomy certificate.
Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers.
Knowledge of infection control standards and utilization of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
Ability to perform essential job functions using proper body mechanics.
Good verbal and written skills.
Customer service oriented.
Ability to concurrently perform multiple tasks.
