Development Scientist

The position will serve as a lead position for Product development operations. The position will be specialized in formulation for viral products. In particular, the individual will prepare various formulations and optimize current processes. A deep knowledge in liposomal presentation of antigens for human vaccines and vaccine formulations based on emulsion is required. Knowledge on adsorption of antigens on aluminium adjuvants will be a plus in this job. The individual will also have to perform the formulations characterisation : particle sizing, laser light scattering, zeta potential, rheology are among the various competences required
The individual will be responsible for assisting with experimental designs strategies within the scientific discipline, optimize production processes in order to produce pre clinical lots. The incumbent will supervise, train technicians to perform assigned tasks. Experiments, studies, and processes should meet good laboratory practices, and company and regulatory agency standards, and maintaining equipment and supplies. Incumbent completes assignments and then makes next step recommendation(s) to Supervisor/Scientist for approval. The individual will be directly involved with transfer of process to manufacturing and will need to collaborate with other departments within the company. The position requires indirect supervision and training of non-exempt personnel to ensure timely completion of experiments and to accomplish Departmental and Corporate/Project Team objectives.
The incumbent will prepare, present and maintain technical reports (SOPs, BPRs, Validation, Notebooks, etc.), will train others and transfer specific technology or methodology to other internal and external (when appropriate) customers. Reports issues and negotiates resources within the functional group.
Maintains equipment, maintains safety awareness, recommends capital purchases, maintains laboratory supplies, and maintains cGLP.
Participates actively with internal working groups providing technical information, reporting on issues, and participating with external and internal technology transfer. Communication both to and from the subgroups and the Platform Manager is a critical component of this duty.
REQUIREMENTS
PhD in Biochemistry or Physico-Chemistry, Life Science, or related field of study or equivalent experience.Demonstrated experience with current Analytical Techniques (NMR, Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Granulometry), Formulation processes
