We at Siemens Ultrasound are recognized by users worldwide as the best provider of medical ultrasound diagnostic solutions and for setting the pace in product and process technologies. Approximately 700,000 diagnostic ultrasound exams are performed each day in hospitals, clinics and doctor's offices around the world using Siemens ACUSON™ and SONOLINE™ premium ultrasound systems.

We are searching for a Technical Writer to become a member of our technical communications team, working in either our Issaquah, WA or Mountain View, CA office. This position is responsible for creating world-class product information to maximize clinical utility and customer satisfaction for the Ultrasound Division of Siemens Medical Solutions. As a member of our technical communication team, your role will include writing and editing of complex technical documentation, including user manuals, on-line help, and other technical information for the end-users of Siemens ultrasound systems.

Our technical writers research technical and engineering information, including design and test specifications and product prototypes, and conduct interviews with subject matter experts. You will participate in all phases of content development: planning of project scope and requirements, content development, and conduct of the review and validation processes with subject matter experts. You will also participate in the final preparation, review, and publication of documents, as well as the release of the technical documentation through our Engineering Change Order process.

A BS/BA in life sciences or technical communication, or equivalent experience is required.
An ideal candidate will have experience:

creating end-user documentation for ultrasound systems or medical devices

authoring in XML using Arbortext Editor or an equivalent tool

editing and publishing of end-user documentation

working in a controlled documentation process

using a variety of tools for development and publishing of technical documentation

We are looking for someone who has demonstrated technical writing expertise in product documentation through successful completion of technically complex assignments documents medical devices or similarly complex products to end users. To be successful in this position you will have 5 plus years of experience in product documentation working as a technical writer and will be a clear, effective communicator who enjoys working as part of a small team under the schedule pressure that result from aggressive time-to-market targets for product development.
