JOB SUMMARY:
The RN in the Diagnostic Imaging Department/Cardiac Cath Lab provides direct patient care services to patients of all ages according to The Standards of Nursing Care for the Diagnostic Imaging Department of Mercy Medical Center. This encompasses performing assessments, administering medications and contrast, monitoring patients, managing patients receiving procedural sedation, assisting with invasive procedures, and education of patients and families. The nurse applies knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span to provide care appropriate for the infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. The nurse takes an active role in continuing education offerings, teambuilding and professional development of fellow team members and participates in professional organizations and on committees for the hospital and community.
REQUIREMENTS
Job Requirements (Core Competencies)
Education:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.

Experience:
Minimum 3 years experience in acute care nursing, at least one of which has been in ICCU or the ED.

License/Certification: Current license as an RN. BLS and ACLS required, PALS and Mercy Medical Center Sedation/Analgesia certification will be required but may be achieved after hired. CRN desirable.
Other required skills and abilities: Requires knowledge and ability to apply the principles of the nursing process, knows the pharmacology of medications administered in the radiology department and the cardiac cath lab, knows pathophysiology of disease, dysrhythmia recognition and response, and has skills in hemodynamic monitoring.

Physical Abilities:
Vision sufficient to read medical records, instruments, documentation, and visual changes in
client condition. Hearing sufficient to interact with client who may be unable to speak at normal voice level. Mobility (including lifting, bending, stooping, reaching) and dexterity sufficient to assist clients and handle required instruments.
