Position Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) assists with cardiovascular procedures, which include non-invasive (treadmill, echos, etc) and invasive (cardiac catheterization, pace makers, etc). Identifies nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient. Plans individualized patient care. Participates in performance improvement activities to assure continuous quality improvement. Provides care and coordinates participation that fosters the goals of the hospital’s mission statement. Performance Expectations Demonstrates the ability to perform specific competencies as listed on the Competency Validation Checklist(s). Meets mutually agreed upon performance goals/objectives established annually as listed on the Performance Management Plan (PMP). Working Environment This is a nursing environment, so there is a potential for exposure to communicable diseases and blood borne pathogens. Requires knowledge and use of multiple cardiology equipments and standard office equipments. Handles emergency or crisis situations, adapting to acute changes in all conditions that occur. Subjected to irregular hours. Will encounter stress due to multiple calls and tasks. Interdisciplinary contact with other health care disciplines/professionals. Temperature and lighting variances during procedures. Requires working in area where there is exposure to x-ray/radiation during procedures Physical Abilities Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking. Frequently lifts, positions, pushes, and/or transfers patients; frequently moves supplies and equipment requiring moderate physical effort to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds: nurse is required to obtain assistance for lifting more than 50 pounds. Manual dexterity and mobility needed for considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and/or crouching. Able to reach above shoulders without difficulty. Able to perform several tasks simultaneously. Reports to Director of Cardiology Supervises Tech Degree of Supervision Minimal. Must be able to work independently.Qualifications Position Qualifications Graduate of accredited School of Nursing. Current RN registration with the TN Nursing Board. BLS Healthcare Provider (BLS) Certification within 90 days and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification within one year or hire or promotion required. Critical Care experience preferred. Management and leadership skills preferred.
