This includes assessing needs, creating and coordinating programs, implementing and evaluating quality orientation and continuing education and competency programs. The educator acts as a liaison and resource to all areas of the facility in training and staff development.Responsibilities: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Partners with other Nursing Education/Clinical Specialists and nursing management to assess and develop educational programs. Provides, coordinates, and evaluates orientation and staff development through structured orientation, continuing education, on-going trainings, mandatory inservices, preceptor training, and staff competency assessments.2. Develops, teaches, and evaluates curriculum educational materials. Coordinates CEU application for professional programs. Development of education programs is based on learning needs assessments from staff surveys, CQI teams, facility and BH committee recommendations, competency assessments and regulatory agency standards. Assures seamless orientation to new hires by overseeing the orientation process from classroom to clinical or support staff department: problem-solves issues related to new hire individual needs.
Supports preceptors and provides relevant learning opportunities for their professional
growth.
Participates in the BH preceptor development program
Coordinates and presents multidisciplinary orientation programs3. Documents educational activities and coordinates retention records per facility policy and mandated by accrediting/licensing bodies. Reports aggregrate data on orientation, mandatory trainings, competency, continuing staff education hours, and patient/family education to appropriate committees.4 Interacts with department directors to support and enhance the education. development, and morale of staff. Serves as a member of various system-wide task forces and committees.5. Follows safety standards in all aspects of performance of the above functions, reports/removes unsafe equipment and attends safety education sessions.
