Neonatal Nurse Practitioner

An advance practice RN, with clinical expertise in neonatal care, who has obtained additional training and education in the medical management of sick newborns. Facilitates medical and nursing care of the neonatal patient, and his/her family, as defined in the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Scope of Practice. Attends deliveries as a part of the neonatal resuscitation team. Through physiological, pyschological, developmental, and cultural knowledge, delivers comprehensive care to neonates and their families. Based on protocols/standards of neonatal care, contributes to the development, implementation, and evaluation of multidisciplinary therapeutic plans of care. In collaboration with the Neonatalogist, is accountable for the quality of care provided, and the clinical management of patients/families through appropriate independent actions.Transport NNPs are members of the Neonatal Tranpsort Team responsible for the care and transport of the critically ill neonate. The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner is accountable to the NNP Clinical Manager and the Director of Maternal Child Services for totality of work performance and professional behavior.
REQUIREMENTS
Requires Graduation from Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Program, at least One year NNP clinical experience in level II-III NICU, current Registered Nurse license in State of Colorado; AHA-NRP, BLS, NNP Certification through the National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing Specialities, upon completion of MSN.
