POSITION SUMMARY:

Assist in the coordination of all operating room activities including scheduling of procedures and rooms Assist in maintenance of supplies and equipment.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain observance of daily surgical schedule.

Expedite room turnover.

Assist in identifying staffing needs and schedules.

Respond to physician concerns.

Coordinate procedures with other departments, such as Radiology, Lab central Sterile Supply, etc.

Evaluate delays in surgery. Participate in PI process.

Participate in evaluation of new equipment and supplies.

May assume charge responsibility in absence of Director of Surgical Services.

Communicate any needs or problems to appropriate supervisor.

Serve on committees as appropriate.

Assist in procuring and maintaining supplies and equipment.

Responsible for all duties assigned to Operating Room Staff Nurse.

Maintain appropriate relationship with all publics.

Ability to provide pre-op teaching.
REQUIREMENTS
SUPERVISION GIVEN:

May assume charge responsibility in absence of Director of Surgical Services.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Directly supervised by Director of Surgical Services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Registered Professional Nurse with current New York State license.

CNOR preferred.

Knowledge of new trends and techniques in perioperative nursing.

Two to three years Operating Room experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to communicate with physicians, patients, families, and visitors via the telephone and in person. Ability to manipulate patients in varying stages of disability.
