The Hospital came into being in 1854 when a catastrophic explosion created the need to treat the many injured. In 1994, The Institute of Living, a psychiatric hospital founded in 1822, became the Mental Health Division of Hartford Hospital.

Hours: FT 40 hours, some weekend shifts.Hartford Hospital, a Magnet facility attracts the BEST. Women's Health Services has one staff midwife position available in their exciting new 4 staff midwifery service currently being developed. Experience preferred in triage and first assist. This position will provide holistic, quality and cost-effective care for women. Engages in independent decision-making regarding the health care of women across the lifespan and across the health care continuum. Practices within a health care system that allows medical consultation, collaborative management and referral health care of women, i.e. well woman, gynecology, obstetrics (antepartum, labor, delivery and postpartum), and family planning. Reports to Nursing Director, Medical Director or Nurse Manager, or a matrix which may include Nurse Manager, Nursing Director, Medical Director, or some combination of those. REQUIREMENTS
Completion of a Nurse-Midwifery Program accredited by the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM)
Certification by the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM)
Current Connecticut State RN license
Current LNM license
Masters Degree in Nursing
3-5 years of experience preferred
