Mental Health Worker

Sound Community Services, Inc.(SCSI)in New London is a comprehensive behabioral health organization providing services to the seriously mentally ill and dually-diagnosed adults in New London County. SCSI programs include: Clinical and Medical Outpatient services, Partial Hospitalization Program, Employment Services, Case Management, Housing Supports, Rehab Services ect. Currently SCSI is in need of a Mental Health Worker to work as part of the Case Management team. The Mental Health Worker will provide individualized, culturally sensitive support to residents in the community. The work schedule will be highly flexible to accommodate the needs of the population served.

Other Mental Health Worker responsibilities include:
Assisting clients in learning the skills of daily living, including cooking, cleaning, shopping for food and clothing, personal hygiene etc.

Provide instruction in activities of daily living, sex education and communicable disease prevention.

Monitors medications and behaviors of clients in community settings.

Maintain accurate record of daily client contact and document compliance into computerized record.

Places supoport calls and support visits, providing emotional support, motivation and problem-solving skills to clients.

Handles emergency situations with minimal supervision.

Provides transportation to appointments, meetings, and/or shopping. Teach clients to access public transportation.
REQUIREMENTS
Associates Degree and one year experience in related field. Previous experience working with mentally ill / co-occurring disorder population preferred. Professional, flexible and dependable.
