JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Family Services Team Leader, the Family Services Associate will maintain a paper case file for AP/CalWorks participants referred for childcare services and providers in the program. Provide technical assistance to parent and providers, explain payment process and act as liaison between participant, provider, County and CCFS.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Meet contract compliance established between Agency, and the County, and CDE.
Input family’s data in database.
Explain child care referral and payment process to both participant and childcare providers.
Knowledge of licensing regulations for Family Day Care, Day Care Centers and License-Exempt; validate provider’s licensing status.
Interchange position with Collocated Staff when necessary.
Ensure exempt providers meet Trustline requirements.
Maintain required data/documentation from participant and provider.
Maintain confidentiality of participant’s records.
Maintain up-to-date records on a client caseload of approximately 100 parents.
Maintain up-to-date records on a provider’s caseload of approximately 50 agreements.
Resolve problems between parents and providers.
Re-determine parents eligibility at six-month intervals.
Ensure childcare authorization within contract required time frame.
Conduct provider document review for licensed and licensed-exempt providers.
Typing, filing and record keeping.
Provide technical assistance to participants and providers.
Perform other tasks as assigned by the AP/CalWorks Program Manager or Team Leader.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be able to pass computer assessment with a minimum score of 70%. Working knowledge of existing Los Angeles County Welfare system and programs as well as new CalWorks and alternative payment programs, preferred but not required.
Minimum of two (2) years of general office experience in an office environment.
Sensitivity and ability to work well with diverse ethnic, socio-economic, religious and cultural groups.
Must pass computer literacy examination.
Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
Ability to prioritize workload as a team member.
Experience working with parents receiving subsidized childcare or social support services.
Supportive and helpful attitude in working with people.
Bilingual English/Spanish desirable, but not required.
Must have a vehicle and proof of liability insurance.
Pleasant and professional telephone manners and voice.
Familiarity with data entry programs and word processing programs.
Ability to work variable days and hours.
Able to meet deadlines.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
High School Graduate.
AA degree in human service field or business. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondences, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondences.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with tens and one hundreds.
Ability to perform these operations using units of American money, and weight measurement, volume and distance.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
