Director of Development & Communications

The Director of Development & Communications is responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive and effective development and communications program to attract funds and enhance the visibility of the Baltimore Child Abuse Center. The position reports to the Executive Director and works in close cooperation with the Board of Directors and other staff. This position will:
- administer agency fundraising programs
- diversify the agency's funding base by significantly increasing financial support from individuals, foundations, corporations, and government entities
- write and disseminate grant proposals
- manage direct mail
- develop and manage special events
- develop/implement successful communications strategy, including electronic and written promotional materials and media coverage
- maintain donor files database and tracking system
- assist Board President and Executive Director in Board development

The Baltimore Child Abuse Center, an award winning, private nonprofit children's advocacy center, opened in 1987 to coordinate the investigation, prosecution, and treatment of all reported cases of child sexual maltreatment in Baltimore City. BCAC has created a national model of cooperation--true systems reform--among our numerous partner agencies. BCAC is growing rapidly and has recently added a child sexual maltreatment prevention community outreach component to the program, with the goal of expanding this component throughout the state of Maryland.

REQUIREMENTS
The successful applicant will possess a Bachelor's degree, demonstrated fundraising and communications experience, superior oral and written communications skills, strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
