Coordinator of Foster Care and Adoptions

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the supervision, administration and implementation of the Foster Care, Therapeutic Foster Care, and Adoptions programs agency-wide.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Oversee the tasks and administration of FC/TFC and Adoptions with regard to day-to-day operations, fiscal management, program planning and development and direct supervision of Foster Care/Adoptions Specialists.

2.Oversee of the development and monitoring of comprehensive treatment plans and ensuring quality care of youth being served in Foster Care and Therapeutic Foster Care Services, as well as adoptive placements. This includes quality and compliance reviews of plans and progress notes for children in treatment foster homes (Level II-Medicaid).

3.Demonstrate familiarity and competence in Adoptions, Foster Care and Therapeutic Foster Care Services and licensing laws and policies of North Carolina. Oversee of recruitment, training and licensure activities.

4.Conduct appropriate support, supervision, and consultation of assigned staff with appropriate frequency, regularity and documentation associated with such activities.

5.Provide supervisory availability to assigned staff, back up consultation to foster and therapeutic foster homes and youths being served as well as emergency assistance 24 hours per day.

6.Serve as a liaison to DSS, DMH and other community agencies regarding any contractual services, treatment planning issues, needs of and services to youth being served in Adoptions, Foster Care and Therapeutic Foster Care Services.

7.Provide supervision of the regular maintenance, care and appropriate usage of program equipment, materials and resources.

8.Perform other duties as requested by Director of Residential Services.

REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge: Bachelor’s Degree in human services or related field from an accredited college or university, Master’s Degree preferred.

Minimum of three (3) years experience working with children and families in a human service setting. Experience in Adoptions and Foster Care Services preferred.


Physical exertion required no more than 30% of the time. Activity described as walking, lifting, bending. Position requires a valid North Carolina Driver’s License required and insurability by Methodist Home for Children’s insurance carrier. Moderate exposure to infectious diseases. Day and overnight travel may be required with extensive on-call responsibilities.
