Caseworker I

WE ARE: ChildNet Youth & Family Services, a nonprofit corporation headquartered in Long Beach, CA. We provide Counseling, Education, Foster Care and Residential Services to at-risk children. ChildNet has been serving at risk youth for over 35 years. The Long Beach Youth Home provides residential and treatment services to boys ages 11-17.

About The Position: We are seeking a Caseworker I for our residential Youth Home in Long Beach. The Caseworker I is an entry level position. The Caseworker I works with the Team Supervisor and other team members in the direct supervision of 13 to 14 residents on a team and all 30 residents on the floor.

The Caseworker will maintain a caseload of 3 or 4 clients and will participate in daily accountability groups as well as weekly interdisciplinary treatment team meetings. This position will assist with the maintenance of case files and contact notes and will ensure program compliance with all federal, state, and county agencies.

The Caseworker will also be responsible for supervising activities both on and off grounds and will transport residents as necessary.

The Caseworker will be assigned to one of the two available shifts based on business necessity:
“A” shift: Sunday-Wednesday 12:30 pm-10:30 pm
“B” shift: Wednesday-Saturday 12:30 pm-10:30 pm

REQUIREMENTS
A bachelor's degree in a Social Science is required. Must be able to work with troubled boys ages 11-17 and be willing to handle crisis situations.

All employees must pass an employment TB, drug screen and physical exam. Dept. of Justice/FBI/Child Abuse Index Search Clearance must be on file prior to the first day of work. To meet the insurance underwriting requirements of this agency, employees must maintain a good driving record and keep a current copy of their auto insurance and drivers license on file in Human Resources.
