The benefits of working at Capital include interesting work, exceptional colleagues, a comfortable workplace, competitive salaries and bonuses, and health and life benefits from day one.The associate in this role will be a part of the SMART reporting Team, with the key function of generating reports utilizing the SMART (Strategic Management and Resource Tool) database. The report specialist position will be responsible for working with the AFD (American Funds Distributors) Dealer Relations team, Sales, Marketing Development and other business areas to produce standard, customized and adhoc reports to meet the information needs for the business partners. Extensive database information is utilized to develop reports and analysis along various analytical and operational dimensions. Candidate must have a keen eye for improvement in existing processes, challenge status quo with an effort to improve processes and provide better and more meaningful service to customers. Ideal candidate will have expertise in information analysis, data mining and reporting. Candidate should also have hands on experience with Excel, Access and other reporting tools as Microstrategy, Actuate or Crystal reports.Responsibilities:Understand the data (SMART System)
Learn the data, data structures and relationships. Keep data quality and consistency as a top priority.
Learn the existing Microstrategy tool to access data and generate reports.
Learn new tools and technology as available and appropriate.
Utilize good judgment to use the appropriate tools for various tasksProduce standard, custom and adhoc reports
Work closely with key departments to understand the business questions, help clarify and formulate the business questions and deliver information in support of making business decisions.
Be extremely thorough and accurate with the numbers and analysis.
Have the ability to look beyond the numbers, tie to business initiatives and deliver meaningful insights.Provide support for marketing programs and analysis
Provide analysis and advice on tactical sales and marketing efforts
Assist in marketing program execution and measurementWork with SMART IT team
Identify opportunities for enhancing and better organizing existing data.
Identify gaps in existing data and help address those gaps in working with the development team.
Ensure data accuracyProcess Improvement
Collaborate with Dealer Relations, Sales, Marketing Development and other business areas to understand information needs and develop long term sustainable solutions.
Develop tools and processes to better serve the business units
Identify, evaluate and assimilate cutting edge technology and software that will help address information needs for various business units in a scalable modelQualifications
Professional experience in information analysis, data mining and reporting functions.
Basic knowledge with ANY 4GL computer languages (example, SQL, PL/SQL, SAS).
Hands on experience with relational databases and on-line analytical processing (OLAP) tools.
Excellent PC skills, especially spreadsheets, Access, PowerPoint and other desktop applications
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal/collaborative skills with the ability to work with cross-functional teams in a fast paced environment.
Required Bachelor's degree required - business, finance, marketing, science, mathematics or other quantitative field preferred
