Public Relations Manager

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Communications, you will develop, implement, and manage the public relations strategy and tactics to drive awareness of Sybase’s industry-leading products, solutions, and technologies in the data management and data services markets, and position these products within the overall corporate strategy of the Unwired Enterprise.

Responsibilities:

Work with Director of Corporate Communications, PR agency and product management teams to develop and execute world-class PR strategies to drive awareness for the company’s industry-leading data management and data services products.

Develop and manage PR campaigns for product launches, new releases, and key events, such as tradeshows and the company’s annual user conference.

Write product and partner announcements, and manage review / approval / distribution process.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with business press and top-tier computer industry trade press.

Conduct proactive outreach and pitching to media. Monitor and measure trade and business press coverage to analyze trends and explore opportunities for coverage.

Handle ongoing media inquiries, and field questions to appropriate spokespeople.

Identify editorial (print/broadcast/web) for assigned product groups, and secure and manage interviews and briefings.

Serve as one of the company’s approved spokespeople to the media, analysts, employees worldwide, and the general public at large.

Work closely with Analyst Relations team to provide analysts with product information and access to product spokespeople.

Work with product management teams to identify thought leadership opportunities, including whitepapers and speaking opportunities.

Work with product management teams to provide content for competitive alerts to educate sales force on product-related news and competitor announcements.

Create and manage speaker bureau for assigned product groups.

Identify industry award programs for Sybase products, and manage submissions.

Oversee creation of new product-focused blogs, and review all content.

Conduct bi-annual media training for product spokespeople.

Work with international colleagues, as required, to help drive worldwide programs.

Develop press kits and supporting materials.

Maintain corporate and press-facing content on web sites, including coordination of posting news releases and related materials.

Manage product PR budget.

Work with Internal Communications Manager to keep worldwide employee base informed of external news announcements.Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, or Mass Communications.

At least 3 years of high-tech corporate or agency PR experience is required, ideally in the enterprise software industry.

Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Highly organized and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with strong follow-through. Ability to work under and meet tight deadlines

25% travel – both domestic and international.

Proficient MS Office skills.
