Production Technician

The primary role of the Production Technician will be to electronically build, create and assemble various print projects in accordance with agency and client specifications. This includes, but not limited to data entry and type setting, image manipulation, art creation or modification as well as:•Create layout comps, rough and presentation material as requested
•Propose creative concept elements for potential and new projects
•Prepare images using scanners and or digital photography
•Prepare client proofs for approval
•Make corrections and modifications to client proofs as requested
•Assist in project and/or client customer service needs•Perform routine desktop computer maintenance, archival of data and backup procedures
•Assist in finding efficiencies for the department
•Daily production, flight-check projects, prepare existing documents for print
•Perform other responsibilities, as they are developed/defined
•Be aware of Graphic Trends
•Attend new project turnovers, bi-weekly production meetings as part of client’s creative team.
•Maintain on-site VCC printer and all aspects of calibration, software maintenance, and consumable product replacement.
•Supports client with software/printing/prepress and design experience and expertise.
•Acts as acting prepress operator to trouble shoot work flow.
REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience
4-year college education or equivalent in graphic design
Ability to speak, read and write in the English language
2 or more years of experience as a Mac Operator and Graphic Artist
Desire to continue education through trade shows, seminars, special courses, etc.
Layout sketches and typography portfolio samples requested
Accuracy in page building and error free postscript documents
Demonstrates the ability to perform well and remain organized under tight deadlinesKnowledge of printing, prepress, digital, and film output processes
General advertising, marketing, media, TV and radio terminology and processes
Knowledge of the web, internet, and ftp technologyKnowledge of POS and store signage
Knowledge of technical solutions and troubleshooting techniquesSystem Skills Required
Consistently demonstrate the ability to understand and use:
MAC Based hardware/software systemsLaser printing devices
Basic understanding of remote conductivity to communicate from various locations
Error-free Postscripting
Graphic Design Software: Quark, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, Suitcase, Stuffit and Microsoft Office, Archiving and Backup Procedures
