Marketing Manager - New Product & Retail Brand Development

JOB SUMMARY: The goals of this marketing leadership position are to maximize the growth of GMCR’s coffee business in two ways: (1) accelerating and optimizing new product development, and (2) expanding and enhancing the branded retail experience. This manager facilitates the company’s initiative development process and leads selected new category product development initiatives. This role also involves leading the development and subsequent management of a branded kiosk and café program in collaboration with other internal experts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
New Product Development
Lead GMCR’s new product development planning process to ensure that short and long-term innovation requirements are met in support of GMCR’s growth goals.
·Provide facilitation of the company’s initiative evaluation process, including meeting management, process training, record keeping, and reporting.
·Lead selected product development initiatives. Responsibilities include defining product requirements and attributes, go-to-market strategy, value proposition, branding, marketing and selling strategies, as well as facilitating interdepartmental and external partner collaboration to realize category or product launch objectives.

Branded Retail Development
·Lead the development and implementation of national and regional strategies and programs to build GMCR’s branded retail presence in partnership with a variety of customer types, including institutional foodservice, supermarkets, and specialty coffee shops.
·Work with GMCR’s creative director, retail coffee experts, as well as marketing, finance, sales and facilities management, to develop an efficient, responsive program for standard and customized kiosk and café set-ups.
·Evaluate the return on investment of these build-outs and develop plans for maximizing financial return for GMCR and wholesale customers.
·Determine the complete business process for addressing kiosk and café opportunities.
·Identify and secure needed resources for developing proposals and plans for customized kiosk and café solutions.
·Lead team to determine appropriate roles for outside vendors and internal resources.
·Lead product mix and merchandising strategy for coffee kiosks and cafés.
·Lead team in ongoing implementation of the custom kiosk and café development process.
·Manage the development of custom proposals and plans for existing and prospective customers.
·Provide analysis of GMCR’s branded retail business and communicate this to guide sales and marketing decision-making.
·Work closely with sales and marketing leadership to manage and optimize existing customer relationships, as well as to acquire new customers.
·Monitor and report on consumer needs and trends in specialty coffee retail.

General
·Collaborate with other marketing managers to ensure consistency of brand experience, efficiency of product mix, and leveraging of cross-channel opportunities.
·Facilitate all interdepartmental and external work on projects, keeping the team on task and delivering maximum value to our customers.
·Track projects and promotions against set objectives, analyze and evaluate success of the projects, and pursue path to optimization – without significant guidance or supervision.
·Maintain detailed and easily accessible records of all meetings held, presentations given, and conversations related to projects.
·Generate demand signals for products and materials forecasts for projects and ensure operational support.
·Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS:
·MBA, or 4-year degree and equivalent experience.
·Solid understanding of marketing strategy and tactics.
·Prior experience with business-to-business marketing, retail merchandising or management, brand management, product line management, and/or foodservice sales.
·Prior experience working with a creative team and evaluating creative work.
·Outstanding organizational skills to ensure tight deadlines are met both internally and externally
·Ability to manage others, work autonomously and in a team environment, to get along with others and with management both internally and externally.
·Excellent communication skills, including written and presentation skills.
·Ability and enthusiasm for acquiring new skills and knowledge.
·Understanding of the specialty coffee market is a plus.
·Highly developed analytic and problem-solving skills
·Advanced data management, query, and Microsoft Office skills, especially Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
·Strong research, negotiating, interpersonal, and communication skills
·Prior budget ownership and understanding of accounting principles
