Market Specialty Manager Diatomite

Our client, an international leader in engineered products, located on the Southern coast of California is looking for an Applications Scientist. The successful candidate will be directly responsible for leading the technical efforts in order to get products formulated and approved in plastics and rubber end use applications. They will also provide a key technical link with the Plastics and Rubber Market Segment Manager in support of new product efforts. This person will also provide technical service to existing customers as required by sales. This position will require up to 40% domestic and 10% international travel.
REQUIREMENTS


We are seeking candidates with the following skills:

Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
Minimum of 5 years of lab experience as a plastics formulator and lab supervisor. Preference given to someone with thermoplastics and fillers experience.
The ability to establish and maintain an R&D plastics testing lab
Project Management experience.
Broad knowledge and experience of any of the following would be useful: polypropylene, thermoplastics, elastomers, polyethylene, PVC, nylon, polycarbonates, ABS, SBR, polyamides, and pigments.
Good computer, writing, presentation and supervisory skills.
Proven ability to perform within project timeline constraints
