The Berry Company, a BellSouth company, is seeking an individual for the position of Manager, Marketing Research in their Dayton headquarters. Berry, established in 1910, is the largest independent Yellow Pages publishing agent in the US, specializing in the sales and marketing of Yellow Pages advertising and Internet products nationwide. Job Summary:
Maintains overall responsibility for Berry Network research. Driving selected parts of strategic planning through appropriate research design and interpretation of results. Utilizing critical thinking skills, industry knowledge and company experience to assess existing research methodologies, competitor research programs, improvements and ensure meaningful and actionable research design. Assessing research results, creates action plans, and driving key activities to improve results. Supporting key market positioning of a new kind of agency.
Responsibilities include:
Maintaining and developing methodologies for research, including customer satisfaction research (mall intercepts and focus groups), usage research, competitive research, lost customer study, prospect study, MTM program and strategic research (e.g. client data mining, smart system development).
Identifying corporate and client information needs, assessing impact to the company, prioritizing implementation and design appropriate research projects.
Directs the development and implementation of BNI's Marketing strategies. This includes enhanced program recommendation methods, elevated sales collateral development/distribution, design and implementation of primary research initiatives that drive revenue growth, solidify publisher perceptions of BNI's sales and marketing competency and acts as a credible marketing expert to sales teams, clients and prospects.
Consulting with senior management and sales teams on research needs. Prioritizes implementation and developing research projects to gather information regarding these needs.
Receives request for custom research projects from all levels of management within the company and from clients. Serving as a subject matter expert for the design and execution of methodologies for these projects.
Evaluating available methodologies to ascertain the research projects will provide actionable data for management decisions.
Works closely with sales teams to identify research and analysis opportunities and helps support fact based strategic solutions.
Designs research methods for custom projects; evaluates and manages research methods for ongoing projects. Evaluates research methodologies and determines most appropriate method. Eliminates research that is not actionable and replaces with focus on key business drivers.
Serves as key contact with BAPCO and Berry Corporate research groups ensuring leveraging of resources across companies.
Also serves as Berry Network research point person with YPPA and ADM.
Coordinates with external vendors and publishers regarding service provision, price, bidding, etc...
Directs development, implementation and utilization of the Berry Network Customer Satisfaction Survey. Creates action plan and works with senior management to ensure implementation improvement plans.
Designs Prospect and Competitor Assessment Survey. Creates plan for maximizing use of key findings.
Provides appropriate documentation to secure adequate budget for research. Manages budget for maximum benefit based on key corporate objectives, analysis of competitors, market conditions, etc.

REQUIREMENTS
Minimum qualifications for this position would entail:Bachelor's degree in business Management, MBA highly preferred. Two years marketing experience in the following areas: Marketing strategy, product management, pricing strategy, marketing research, competitive analysis, collateral development, marketing communications, public relations, media strategy, creative development, field marketing and vendor management. Proven experience in managing teams and interacting with people at all levels of an organization. Strong oral and written communication skills necessary. Excellent strategic and analytical skills. Proficiency in MS Office - PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Internet. Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple clients/projects. Travel required (approximately 25%, but may vary based on client needs).
