ILM (Info.Lifecycle Mgmt) Product Manager
SGI is seeking an ILM (Information Lifecycle Management) Product Manager to join our team of experienced professionals in Mountain View, CA. This person will manage all aspects of the ILM strategy and product life cycle, providing a leadership role in a cross functional team. Responsibilities include defining target markets and market sizing, and definition of customer and product requirements by authoring Market Requirement Documents (MRDs). In this role, you will be expected to:Drive SGI s ILM Storage strategy and grow share in HPC (High Performance Computing) and Enterprise marketsDrive product requirements to ensure a complete and competitive productDevelop hard-hitting product collateral including presentations, datasheets, FAQs, competitive webinars, road shows, tradeshows, and other venues. Partner with vertical marketing groups to ensure SGI?s ILM solution portfolio is included as part of the overall company solutionInterface with key representatives from manufacturing, sales, customer support, and engineering to ensure overall success of the products under your control.Specific Responsibilities: Understanding of and experience in applying all elements of complete life-cycle marketing, including product definition, development, launch, and ultimately the transition or end-of-life of a productExperience with building demand and sales momentum through both direct sales and indirect channels, using advertising, direct marketing, promotions or seminarsHave demonstrated leadership and ability to lead cross-functional teams as well as coordination cross business unit projectsExcellent written and verbal communication, listening, negotiation, presentation as well as project management and decision making skillsExperience in developing key relationships with OEM and ODM partners to complement the ILM product and solution portfolioTechnical knowledge of multi-tiered storage architectures, HSM, archival solutions and tape automation technologiesHave technical understanding of SAN and NAS storage architecturesPossess in-depth understanding of competitive products and strategies necessary to develop comparative documents and value proposition marketing deliverables for the SGI field organizationDevelop and implement product positioning, pricing, and promotional strategies that are competitive in the storage industryBuild strong ILM storage brand awareness and develop relationships with Storage industry analysts, press and media. .
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or Computer Science. MBA preferred. 10+ years related experience in the high-tech computing industry, with 5 years experience in product marketing or technical marketing of storage software. Additional experience with storage hardware desirable. Must possess excellent written and oral communications skills.Excellent interpersonal skills.Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with other product managers, sales teams and engineers.High energy level, self-motivation, and a high level of commitmentWilling to travel, both domestically and internationally.
