Advertising Director

The McAllen Monitor is seeking an advertising director with a successful track record of driving new sales in a team environment. This exciting position is responsible for a seasoned team of sales professionals that include creative services, a classified call center, and display and major retail advertising. As the ad director you will coach, train and manage a sales team of 35-40 associates. You will also be commissioned to foster an environment of growth, opportunity and development of sales reps. The position reports to the general manager and indirectly to the publisher and is responsible for a department that includes creative services, retail display, classified display and majors advertising. This position is responsible for setting sales goals, developing new revenue, fostering exceptional customer service, and setting and meeting revenue budgets. The advertising director will provide motivation, leadership, fresh ideas, and a can-do attitude. The successful candidate will possess strong organizational, communication and computer skills.
REQUIREMENTS
The advertising director leads cross-selling efforts in print and on the Web, and works collaboratively with his/her peers in a regional group of sister publications. Therefore, applicants must possess a demonstrated familiarity with the Internet, as well as the ability to think strategically, to identify opportunities and to work well with a team. A college degree in advertising or marketing is preferred but not required. Five years of sales management experience and previous media management experience are required. Bi-Lingual a plus.
