Cobalt is endorsed by the American International Automobile Dealers Association (AIADA).This Sr. Data Warehouse Architect role is to strategically design and implement data warehouses, data marts, and data stores, in a manner that ensures high levels of data availability. This individual is also responsible for participating in the definition of data standards and models for warehouse architectures. In addition, the Sr. Data Warehouse Architect will participate in the evaluation of infrastructure components including software, hardware, database management systems and networking capabilities. This person will work in conjunction with other IT/development and business groups to understand functionality, scalability, performance, security and integration requirements from the database perspective, and to translate these requirements into functional, scalable and reusable components that meet the business need.Essential Functions Analyze and determine information needs, data relationships and attributes, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities in a complex data warehousing environment
Design and implement dimensional data models
Analyze data acquisition needs and access requirements
Participate in the development of an ETL strategy, provide ETL design and implementation
Design and implement integrations with new data sources in a manner that ensures consistency with existing data warehouse structures and processes
Review and support business requests for data and data usage, research and recommend tools that will make those requesting data more self-sufficient.
Contribute to the establishment of an architectural roadmap for business intelligence reporting, including analysis of solution alternatives, architectural design, and system integration needs.Develop/review technical documents to ensure consistency, accuracy and compliance with architectural directions as they relate to the warehouse environment.
Provide support to development team through tuning, indexing, sizing and debugging to ensure that quality and standards meet customer expectations
Analyze performance statistics, tune SQL queries, recommend database and application changes to improve performance and scalability.
Provide guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff membersRequired Skills5+ years experience working as a Data Warehouse Architect in a warehousing environment
5+ years experience in SQL development and tuning in an Oracle environment
3+ years experience working with ETL tools (Informatica tool suite preferred)
3+ years experience with dimensional modeling
Proven track record in building scalable, database-driven web applications
Experience working with MS Office Suite (including MS Excel and Visio)
Experience with Informatica Power Analyzer strongly desired
Familiarity with Unix/Linux environment, scripting skills strongly desired
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
