Operations Manager

Currently, we have an opening for a dynamic individual to join our team as a Plant Manager in the East Greenwich area.
MUST HAVE PRIOR EXPERIENCE MANAGING A LARGE MANUFACTURING FACILITY OF APPROXIMATELY 700 EMPLOYEES WITH APPROXIMATE ANNUAL SALES OF 500 MILLION
Function: Assumes overall accountability for the efficient and profitable management of assigned manufacturing operations, production control, and storeroom activities at the East Greenwich, RI and Clinton, CT Plants.
Responsibilities:
Manages assigned operations and supporting functional areas by:
- Insuring that assigned areas are adequately staffed with properly trained personnel.
- Making recommendations or approving decisions for manufacturing employees regarding employment, performance ratings, promotions, rate or salary changes, transfers and terminations.
- Resolving personnel problems particularly those of a more complex nature.
- Teaching subordinates in the more complex phases of their work.
- Preparing an annual budget and insuring that each operating area operates within established cost controls.
- Coordinating manufacturing and supporting area activities with all areas of the Division.
- Assuring that department production is sufficient and in proper sequence to support the production schedule.
Assumes overall accountability for the efficient and profitable operation of manufacturing and supporting functional area activities by:
- In conjunction with the Senior V.P. of Manufacturing and other members of senior management, assists in the preparation of a five-year manufacturing plan for their area of operation to include space, tooling, machinery, and tactical manufacturing plans necessary to meet forecasted sales.
- Meeting regularly with manufacturing and support area managers to discuss and insure the timely resolution of complex questions and problems.
- Through subordinates and upon approval, as necessary, establishing operating policies, procedures and practices for their manufacturing area; interprets and explains objectives, programs and policies.
- Continually reviewing and evaluating existing operating policies, procedures, systems, schedules, equipment, etc., and overseeing the implementation of modifications and improvements.
- Continually monitoring the performance of each function reporting to him/her and insuring the maintenance of normal operations.
- Reviewing policy, procedural and systems revisions recommended by subordinates; accepting these suggestions as appropriate and monitoring their implementation.
- Reviewing and approving or rejecting, within limits of authority, major purchase orders and expenditure requests proposed by subordinates.
- Insuring that their operations resources are efficiently allocated to meet sales commitments within standard costs and acceptable quality levels.
- Through subordinates, investigating quality and other production related problems and taking actions necessary to insure that normal operations are maintained.
- Reviewing performance and status reports from all assigned operating areas and exercising control over the allocation and utilization of all resources.
- Directing studies and efforts to improve the productivity of labor and equipment - Insuring that programs and procedures are adopted to guard against industrial accidents and insure the safety and well being of area employees.
- Insuring through the Maintenance Superintendent that all areas are provided with prompt and efficient major maintenance services.
Works closely with General Manager U.S. Field Operations to continually monitor forecasts, demand, backorders, and inventory. Makes adjustments to weekly production schedules to provide maximum customer service with minimum inventory investment.
Confers with Product Managers, as necessary, to respond to significant complaints.
Participates in studies to evaluate capacity and determine future operations expansion requirements based on planned manufacturing objectives.
Confers with counterparts at other East Greenwich operations to solicit or provide various types of information and assistance.
Regularly reviews and analyzes various types of manufacturing related reports and keeps senior management informed of significant activities and problems.
Assumes additional responsibilities as requested.

REQUIREMENTS
Requirements:
Must have a minimum of a Bachelors degree
7+ years directly related plant mgr experience
Must have solid lean manufacturing experience
Must have experience working with a mulit-functional staff (Manufacturing, Engineerin, Finance, Quality, EH & S.
