Manufacturing Manager / Production Manager
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the management of all aspects of the production operation for this food manufacturing plant. General duties include, but are not limited to: providing overall leadership and direction to direct reports responsible for the production, sanitation and maintenance operations; implementing strategies to increase efficiency, maintain quality, and ensure continuous improvement of production, sanitation and maintenance processes and procedures; creating a work environment which reflects a commitment to protecting the health and safety of employees, food safety and quality; and identifying and supporting the development of internal talent in preparation for future advancement and promotional opportunities. Also responsible for positively impacting employee relations by exemplifying and enforcing consistent, fair and inclusive employment practices, legal and corporate compliance, and attitudes and behaviors reflective of the company’s commitment to diversity.
This position reports to the Plant Manager and will have 11 Managers reporting to them and a large employee work force. This person will need to be a national candidate who will consider relocation to other manufacturing plants in the United States. This is a highly promotable position and will have high expectations to implement changes to the site.

ACCOUNTABILITY:
Routine contact with all employees at the facility, including frequent contact and interaction with the Plant Manager and his/her direct reports on the senior management team, and other functional managers and supervisors within facility. Indirect and/or periodic contact with management employees assigned to other plants Food manufacturing facilities, members of the Supply Chain management and/or leadership. External contacts include vendors, suppliers, contractors, as well as and local, state and federal regulatory agencies, particularly on-site inspectors and OSHA inspectors.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Experience and knowledge applying lean, team-based or participative management techniques within a manufacturing environment. Bachelors degree required with ten years experience in the food processing industry preferred. Requires independent judgment, and strong analytical skills in formulating decisions.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Leads managers,supervisors and direct reports in the attainment of established production standards, goals and objectives, including those associated with yields, productivity, budget and cost control, and other key performance indicators; directs implementation of strategies to effectively resolve any issues negatively impacting any areas within scope of responsibility.
2.Actively participates in scheduled safety meetings to review safety and environmental performance; leads direct reports in creating and maintaining culture reflective of a commitment to an illness and injury -free workplace.
3.Conducts ongoing review of labor efficiencies and productivity to identify and correct issues which are negatively impacting cost, schedule attainment, order fill rate or the ability to meet customer demands, and directs appropriate resolution to assure timely completion of all scheduled initiatives.
4.Facilitates an effective employee relations program to maintain union-free status by consistently and uniformly implementing company policy, treating employees in a manner that is fair, respectful and courteous, proactively identifying issues, communicating issues to the appropriate members of the management team, and providing input into the resolution of employee complaints and grievances..
5.Drive efforts to maximize RtR efficiencies and continuous improvement process in all areas of the plant operations with direct reports and as a member of the management team; actively seeks opportunities for innovation and modernization of processes to leverage future growth.
6.Establishes performance objectives for direct reports, and provide formal and informal support and counsel as needed to improve performance or generate opportunities for further growth and development.
7.Provides regular written reports, as well as other production-related results and updates to General Manager and other members of management team as requested or needed.
8.Maintains working knowledge of all federal, state and local regulations and statutes applicable to the production operation, and works with governmental agencies, including assigned USDA representatives, to minimize disruptions to production as a result of noncompliance.
