The down-to-earth, pragmatic environment is focused on results, and employees are passionate about making a difference.Responsible for day-to-day manufacturing operations in a 1500 person, USDA Regulated, Frozen Food Manufacturing and Packaging facility. Will be one of two Operations Managers reporting directly to the Plant Manager and is directly responsible for half of the operation which includes seven direct reports who in turn are over approximately 750 people in Maintenance, Safety, Production and Shipping and Receiving. Dotted line supervision for Engineering. Provide products that meet quality, cost, volume and service targets without compromising safety. Develops, executes and implements plans that drive efficiency, volume, and savings. Works with representatives enterprise wide seeking, searching and sharing best practices.Day to day responsibilities of portion of large sized manufacturing facility. Maintains product quality and brand integrity, promotes continuous improvement in quality, manufacturing and safety. Leads a team of 6-8 direct reports with 400 - 800 indirect reports. Leads complete capital savings projects in area of responsibility, including identifying opportunity, researching feasibility, approval and execution, collaborating with necessary internal and external representatives as needed. Responsible for operating budget of portion of large frozen foods manufacturing facility. Plant produces 250+ skus, with 1,350 union associates.Execute plant-specific vision and mission to assure continuous improvement and alignment with the corporate vision.
Directs and oversees production supervisors and their roles and responsibilities throughout the day.
Drive employee engagement, training, and development to maximize manufacturing, quality, safety, and productivity goal attainment.
Effectively communicate results and action plans to all employees and managers.
Ability to fill role of Plant Manager for short term absence.
Collaborates directly with production planning and materials management to optimize scheduled attainment and customer service.
Collaborate directly with human resources to insure employee issues or concerns are correctly addressed and resolved.
Collaborate with finance to create and execute a maintenance and capital budget to insure that financial allocations and obligations are set, administered and met.
Initiate cost savings measures relating to crewing, standards and yields.
Ensure all plant operations and business is conducted in a safe and controlled environment.
Ensure all quality and regulatory standards, specifications and policies are met or exceeded.
Collaborates with Research and Development in product development and implementation of plant trials.BS Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Finance or related field;7+ years experience, 2-5 years in management/supervision, in high speed manufacturing environment;2+ years experience in a complex manufacturing facility with more than 500 associates;Previous experience with USDA preferred, FDA and related compliance agencies possible;Demonstrated track record of manufacturing accomplishments;Demonstrated leadership capabilities and strong financial acumen with in-depth knowledge of performance indicators;Ability to make sound decisions in a fast paced environment;Ability to lead and direct cross functional teams in a matrix environment.Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
Strong computer application skills, including the utilization of mainframe, network and PC business application software
Basic mathematical and statistical skills
Basic financial skills and understanding
Food industry and experience in a union environment preferred
