Additional information is available at http://www.owenscorning.com/career.Warehouse(Hub) Supervisor, Birmingham, ALNorandex/Reynolds is a $900 million unit of Owens Corning and is the largest distributor of vinyl siding in the U.S. The company operates 170 branches in 37 states and sells exterior building products to new home builders and remodeling contractors in their respective territories. Primary products include vinyl siding; vinyl, wood and aluminum windows/doors; decking, fencing, and rain carrying gear. Other products may also be sold, depending on need of local market, including such things as carpeting, power tools and metal forming machines.
This position reports to the Material Manager or the Leader, Distribution and is responsible for receiving, unloading, and storing material at -Distribution Hub and the subsequent delivery to the Branches in the service area. This position is also responsible for assisting Hub truck driver(s) in selecting and loading material for delivery to Branches. The incumbent also supervises the work activities of the Hub’s Warehouse Person(s) and Truck Driver(s).
Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)Supervise and assist in unloading product shipments and the storage thereof in the Hub warehouse. Inspect products and shipping documents to assure that material has arrived in good condition.
Supervise and assist in placing material in proper storage locations and secure in accordance with safe storage, stacking, or palletizing methods.
Supervise the staging material for delivery by company truck or for pickup by Branches. Ensure the warehouse employee(s) and truck driver(s) follow proper procedure for loaded, shipping and accounting for material.
Ensure warehouse in a clean, orderly and safe manner to ensure that material can be efficiently selected and loaded for delivery. Periodically examine stored material and disposal any deterioration or damage per procedure.
Supervise and assist in taking inventory as required on a regular basis.
As needed fill in for Truck Driver or Warehouse Person to cover periods of vacation, illness, or extra scheduled deliveries.
Provide training and day-to-day job direction for Warehouse Employees and Truck Drivers.
In conjunction with the other Norandex Leadership select, and evaluate staff.
Conduct safety meetings, employee orientation, accident investigation and reporting. Maintain proper records to comply with state and federal accident reporting requirements.
Purchase Hub office and warehouse supplies.
Assure compliance with U. S. Department of Transportation rules and licensing requirements to include annual check on delivery personnel driving records.
Supervise the maintenance of Hub’s equipment, including delivery vehicles.
Supervise the administration of financial activities at the Hub.Must be eligible to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis.
