SUMMARY:
As a member of the Raven Team, the Sales & Marketing Manager is responsible and accountable for generating the budgeted number of golf rounds and total gross revenue for the golf club to which he/she is assigned. This will be achieved by making direct sales contacts, community involvement and communication within the club and with the IRI Golf offices. The Sales & Marketing Manager is responsible for maintaining the image of the club through consistent fee policies, participation in image building programs that are generated by IRI Golf Group, the Convention & Visitors Bureau and the club itself. The Sales & Marketing Manager must lead by example and take a proactive position to all issues concerning the daily guest service operations of the golf club. Additional duties may be assigned as required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Preparation of the annual Sales & Marketing Plan for presentation to the General Manager and the IRI Golf Group Regional Director.
2.Organize and implement all sales action steps that are related to total gross revenues at the golf course and ensure that the course achieves its annual budgeted revenue.
3.Responsible for required reports that track sales and marketing activity, bookings and departmental expenditures.
SALES:
Maximize all revenue at the course with particular emphasis on group tournament booking opportunities by establishing relationships with key golf round sources within the market area.
Maximize revenue opportunities with each group booking, making sure to include prizes, merchandise, gift certificates, lessons or clinics, food and beverages.
Responsible for the creating, implementing and monitoring of the annual sales and marketing plan, making necessary adjustments as the market dictates.
Act as the course's outside sales manager by proactively soliciting guests and working as a liaison between local hotels and resorts.
Meet membership quotas through actively soliciting business and individuals for a variety of membership opportunities.
Actively manage and utilize internet activity through updating the course website and managing all e-mail correspondence.

Responsible for all appreciation letters, gifts and events for booking providers and partners.
Responsible for communicating with the Golf Course Superintendent on a regular basis to be aware of course condition changes, overseeding and aerification dates.
Must maintain effective communication with all team members in regard to sales, marketing, advertising and public relations activities.
Responsible for making regular contact with providers and partners, as well as prospective new suppliers of golf rounds and tournaments.
CONTROLS:
Weekly communication with the Tournament Sales Coordinator or Head Golf Professional to ensure all necessary pre-tournament responsibilities are being completed and that all necessary contacts and follow-up calls are being made as needed.
Professionalism in sales calls and presentations and detailed sales record keeping.
Responsible for generating and auditing sales reports that are submitted on behalf of the club.
The Sales and Marketing Manager, along with the Tournament Sales Coordinator and General Manager, will be responsible for building and maintaining a quality golf database through the sales solution software.
Responsible for reviewing the budget for the sales and marketing department on a monthly basis to insure adherence to it.
STANDARDS:
Review the Sales and Marketing status of the club with the General Manager to ensure that the club is staying abreast of market changes and that the club is leading the way in securing its fair market share of rounds of golf on an on-going basis.
Be proactive in exceeding the expectations of our guests, employees and vendors.
Effectively and accurately communicate all information gained from sales calls and booking discussions to the Tournament Sales Coordinator to ensure flawless details for golf outings and/or tournaments.
Conduct site tours with tournament directors and media personnel to review the site.
The Sales and Marketing Manager, in coordination with the Tournament Sales Coordinator will be innovative in identifying market strategies to stay ahead of the competition.
Responsible for communicating any necessary corrections to the web-site, which will be reviewed on a monthly basis.
Responsible for monitoring the timeliness and accuracy of ad placements for the club.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience:
Two to three years related sales experience and/or combination of golf, hospitality sales and marketing experience.
Preferred college education in related field.
Golf Operations experience.
Hospitality-trade experience.
A strong desire to interact with many people.
Ability to multi-task.
A playing knowledge of the game of golf, in order to be at ease playing with whomever, and not have to labor while socializing.
A vision of the Big Picture that is not myopic. (The individual must always want to say "Yes" - or "Let's find a way to get this done!")
An energetic, positive and upbeat attitude is a must.
