Position Goal: Provide support to the General Manager in the supervision of all bakery-cafe operations. Assistant Managers are responsible for managing shifts, cash/safe handling, understanding P&L factors, assisting with associate relations, and ensuring associate adherence to standards, policies and procedures.

Major Duties:· Provide leadership around Panera Bread vision to be an industry leader; facilitate shared accountability and execution in cafe (communication and cooperation); assist in key decisions, judgments, and problem solving.
· Assist in financial responsibility for growing Panera Bread business through increased sales, controls and maximizing margins on short and long term plans, and P&L statements.
· Develop people: hiring, training, motivating, and coaching in order to be the employer of choice; empower crew; build self-sufficiency within the cafe team, assure a safe environment and be able to respond to emergency situations.· Create Panera Bread essence by acting as a role model for customers and staff, being a champion of change, assist in upgrading and improving unit operations and maintaining quality, and balancing innovation with daily operating requirements.· Assist in enlisting systems and processes to accomplish day-to-day operations for maximum store effectiveness.
· Communicate within Panera Bread and with guests and vendors, as well as act as a liaison between the bakery-cafe, management, and support management.· Uphold company policies and procedures and comply with legal requirements.
· Continuous learning through the Training and Development System.

REQUIREMENTS
Educational and Experience:· 1-2 food management/restaurant experience in full service or quick casual concepts, along with the understanding of basic financial (P&L) performance numbers.
· Ability to speak English language.
· AA or BA in related field desirable.
· Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, and procedures preferred.
· Familiarity with basic computer knowledge preferred.

Physical Activity: Handling and moving objects, controlling machines, balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, sitting, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, visual acuity, lift/move up to 40 lbs. of force occasionally.
