The objective of this position is to provide the Maintenance department personnel with clearly defined expectations, priorities, training, support and the necessary resources to accomplish all assigned duties. To schedule work orders on a priority basis, assign preventive and predictive tasks and assist with installation, troubleshooting and repairs to equipment to ensure production, employee safety and quality are at optimum levels and that all operations in the facility are environmentally secure.
Dimensions: Plan and direct facility maintenance activities and supervise departmental personnel at the facility to achieve optimum production levels, correct deficiencies and minimize equipment or system failures.Performs job and manages maintenance personnel in a skillful, controlled, safe and professional manner to avoid major safety and environmental liability.
Principle
Accountabilities: Schedules mechanics repair work orders, preventive and predictive maintenance assignments, and ensures all mechanic assignments are completed in a timely manner.
Submits for approval and places orders for parts, equipment and contractor assigned work.
Maintains an adequate inventory of back up equipment, replacement parts and shop materials to ensure the proper operation of manufacturing and the Maintenance Department.
Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment and system failures, initiates repairs, preventive and corrective actions.
Performs work in skilled areas of fabrication, assembly, welding, cutting and pipefitting.
Follows all applicable QS-9000 Procedures and Work Instructions so as to comply with the CINA QS-9000 quality system.
Take action to identify and prevent problems related to products, processes and the quality system. Recommend and initiate solutions through designated channels and follow up to verify the implementation and effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
Take all appropriate actions:
To meet the corporate HSE expectations of “No accidents, No harm to people, and No damage to the environment”;
To assure we meets the HSSE targets, objectives, and KPIs defined in its annual Performance Contract.
Have knowledge of significant potential or actual environmental impacts, and the environmental benefit of improved personal performance.
Acts as facility coordinator with outside suppliers.
Schedules with area supervisors all scheduled and unscheduled equipment shutdowns, new installations and demolition as well as outside contractor work.
Follow all established Heath, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) procedures and rules that have been established for your job title and work area as well as for the site at which you work. This includes following all applicable "Getting Health, Safety & Environment Right" expectations and ISO14001/ISO18000 procedures and work instructions as well as participating in Advanced Safety Audits. Every employee is responsible for doing their part in helping the company achieve our goals of NO accidents, NO harm to people, and NO damage to the environment. All injuries, HSSE incidents, and near misses must be reported to your supervisor as soon as possible.
Main Working
Relationships: Safety & Operability Manager: Reports directly to the S & O Manager. Keeps updates on all maintenance operations, equipment conditions, departmental inventory and material levels. Provides assistance with project, equipment and system design, coordination and implementation. Keeps informed of cost overages, repair delays, major failures and occurrences that adversely effect manufacturing and quality.
Departmental Personnel: plans and directs all departmental activities as assigned. Assigns personnel to project, work order repairs, preventive and predictive activities.
Area Supervisors: schedules with any equipment or system shutdowns, keeps informed of equipment installation and repairs and responds to emergency requests.
Suppliers: Contacts suppliers for pricing information, ordering and delivery of maintenance supplies, construction and installation materials.
Problem Solving
Complexity: The incumbent must be able to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair all simple and complex equipment and systems.Note: To be considered, your resume must meet specific position requirements and you must identify either the job title or job code for a specific open position. REQUIREMENTS
The incumbent must be able to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair all simple and complex equipment and systems.
Must have an understanding of the interdependency and interaction of equipment within a system and the effects of chemicals, temperatures and pressures encountered in manufacturing operations on equipment and systems.
Must be able to plan and coordinate multiple functions at one time, and determine priorities for repair work orders.
Prepares daily work schedules, balancing priorities and backlogs with consideration of production schedules and downtime.
Decision Making
Authority: Incumbent has responsibility for assigning priority to work orders, scheduling mechanics repair and project work, and preventive and predictive maintenance tasks. Plans, coordinates and completes projects and new installations as required.
Should not perform any task for which the incumbent is not trained or that may create an unsafe situation, compromises the quality of the product or results in an adverse environmental impact.
Has the authority to “stop the process” due to safety, maintenance or environmental reasons.
Takes action (either directly or through your supervisor) to identify and prevent health, safety, security, environment, and quality problems. Encourages and reminds co-workers, contractors, and others of HSSEQ rules and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills,
& Experience Must have a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience, a minimum of 6 years practical maintenance experience (preferably electrical) and good interpersonal skills.
Preferred licensed electrician and/or extensive electrical background to perform electrical maintenance plant-wide.
Have a good working knowledge and experience in welding, pipe fitting, basic instruments, and all types of mechanical equipment.
Must have experience in mechanic's tools with formal vocational training in welding, electrical installations and pump repair; certifications in welding required.
Must have working knowledge of electrical and electronic installations and repair, along with a knowledge of PLC’s
Must be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints.
Has a thorough knowledge of safe practices and procedures
Must be able to read, understand and follow written instructions
Must have basic math skills
Must have good verbal communication skills
Capable of operating a computer to perform data entry.
Must be able to climb ladders, work at heights and confined spaces and lift/carry up to 50 lb.Training and certification in the safe operation of forklifts and other motorized equipment is required for this position.
