MANAGER COMMODITIES - CORPORATE PRODUCE PROCUREMENT #132-06A

The Corporate Produce Department, located in Phoenix, Arizona, has an opening for a Manager, Commodities.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Manage the total company’s needs for all divisions for specific commodities.
Develop strategic programs for improving category/commodity procurement.
Act as the expert for a given commodity understanding cost components including product, growing areas, packaging, imports/exports, transportation implications and market fluctuations.
Directly responsible for achieving the lowest costs in the industry for the department.
Directly responsible for approving purchase orders issued for the procurement of product to supply 1700 stores across the entire company.
Manages the personnel responsible for the quality and service issues arising in the divisions.
Manages vendor allowance programs.
Develops retail/vendor long-range category strategies.
Supervises and coaches National Commodity Specialists.
Travel required: 10-20%
REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications: The following are preferred or desired unless specifically stated:


4-year college degree in business or equivalent produce industry experience.
4 years retail backstage experience including buying.
Retail store experience helpful.
Extensive produce industry knowledge as well as knowledge of growing areas, commodities and PACA rule and regulations.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Superior negotiation skills.
Extensive product line knowledge and ability to respond to market conditions.
Excellent team interpersonal skills and ability to handle multiple tasks while providing superior service to the divisions.
High degree of initiative and sense of urgency.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
