Communcations Lead

Six month contract opportunity.

Create and maintain IT documentation; translate technical and/or complicated information into clear, concise documents appropriate for various target audiences; work with IT groups and business area partners to produce a wide variety of technical publications; interview subject matter experts (SMEs) and technical staff to collect information; follow Project Management best practices, comply with processes related to regulatory or compliance requirements, and adhere to Change Control and Problem Management procedures.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
-Strong ability to create and maintain IT documentation, ensuring that all documents published meet defined requirements and adhere to established standards, templates, and authoring processes.
-Interviews SMEs and technical staff to gather information, prepare written text, and coordinate layout and material organization; researches information such as drawings, design reports, equipment and functional / test specifications, as necessary.
-Publishes finalized documents to hard or soft copy formats, leveraging a working knowledge of versioning control and document archiving within a controlled, electronic environment.
-Maintains internal document repository, providing / coordinating special documentation services, as required.
-Participates in one or more moderately complex documentation management projects involving one or more sites / business areas.
-Maintains consistent style and high quality of documentation, using strong grammar and editing skills.
REQUIREMENTS
Required education/experience:
-Bachelor’s degree or technical institute degree / certificate in Journalism, Technical Writing, Business Administration or other related field or the equivalent combination of education, technical designations and work experience.
-3 to 5 years of business or technical writing experience and working knowledge of multiple software and graphics packages.
-1 to 3 years of experience working in an IT environment; possesses good technical literacy.
