FERC Manager

The FERC Case Manager is a regulatory policy expert responsible for developing workable Federal regulatory policy positions, strategies and mechanisms that support Sempra Energy's business plans and objectives. Consults with regulated utility business units, Sempra Energy's Law Department, and other corporate-level staff to craft positions and arguments that position the utility to achieve its strategies in the wholesale market and in the FERC regulatory arenas. Prepares position papers and analytical studies. Assesses effects of FERC actions on business units.Works with business units to ensure that all Federal regulatory requirements are satisfied. Regulatory policy expert.
REQUIREMENTS


The successful candidate will have a degree in economics, business, engineering, law, public policy or a related field and/or 10+ years or relevant experience in the energy industry and in policy related areas.



Thorough working knowledge of the energy industry and changing state/federal regulatory environments.

Grasps complex conceptual relationships and is able to articulate business/regulatory arguments that address changing business, industry and market circumstances.

Familiarity with stakeholder interests and positions and how they can impact achievement of company business objectives.

Is a leader and a catalyst for action in developing company strategies and positions in FERC regulatory proceedings.

Future orientation with a sound familiarity of historical regulatory/legislative/business trends and cycles.

Analytical skills in the areas of economics and market analysis needed to support development of sound FERC regulatory positions and arguments.

Solid oral and written communications. Ability to present positions to senior management for resolution.

Strong project management skills.
Ability to effectively work with team members of varied backgrounds and skills in the development of FERC regulatory policies and strategies.
Effective in facilitating group efforts to resolve issues and settle on strong positions.
