CONTRACT - Senior Technical Writer

** This is a CONTRACT Localization Position (3-6 months)
Description of Duties
Supports Engineering Development projects - create, update and maintain
Engineering technical documentation related hardware and software development projects (SDKs, APIs, and complex test procedures)
Proofs and edits documentation - maintains accuracy and quality of technical documentation localized from Japanese to English
Interacts with engineering technical staff to create software programming intensive documentation and detailed hardware operation manuals. This includes writing about complex new technologies, and researching information as required
Researches and formulates technical information for publication
Summary of Requirements
Minimum 3 years technical writing or editing experience
Strong linguistic skills
Ability to ascertain and formulate information needed to complete localization of technical publications and content required to support English/Japanese and Japanese/English translations
Good understanding of programming concepts
Ability to produce technical documents in printed and web-ready document formats
Excellent organizational and project management skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Experience using various document publishing software (Microsoft Word, Adobe Framemaker, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Visio, Webworks Publisher, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, RoboHelp Office)
Familiarity with Agile and translation memory tools such as Trados
Experience writing technical publications in an electronics or software development environment
Education
Undergraduate degree in English/Journalism, Technical Communication or a related field or equivalent
