Department Description: The Law Department team based at Mobile Devices provides a broad range of commercial legal and IP support covering all aspects of the business. We have teams and individuals dispersed globally in Motorola’s key markets focused on “go to market” support, marketing and trademarks, service and warranty support, inbound and outbound IP/patent licensing and defensive IP matter, in-business IP counseling, patent preparation and prosecution, product safety, regulatory matters and labor law.

Responsibilities/Expectations: Senior Paralegal based in Libertyville, Illinois supporting the commercial law team with a particular focus on supporting a global sales organization. This individual will be responsible for being the first point of contact for identified clients, negotiating business deals, and ensuring proper due diligence and compliance with corporate governance policies. Provide appropriate commercial and legal counseling for identified clients. Attend staff meetings with clients, interface with other paralegals and attorneys on issues relating to sales, operations, processes, and corporate governance policies. Drive contract approval process including identifying any unusual contractual risks as per SOP E-75. Provide leadership for the other paralegals by providing best in class legal services to clients, training, contract negotiations planning, processes and procedures. Be a member of a strong global legal team responsive to business needs by developing commercial/legal solutions to meet customer needs and superior on-going customer service.^^

Knowledge Skills: Ideal candidates for this position shall have experience (7 years) in the commercial law arena providing advice with minimal lawyer oversight, negotiating commercial arrangements, reviewing and analyzing contracts, developing solutions and processes to assist legal team is providing best in class representation. The ideal candidate functions at a high level of professionalism with excellent communication and drafting skills and captures the trust of clients early on in the relationship. Candidate should have experience within a corporate law department;
excellent paralegal, negotiation, drafting and commercial skills;
excellent judgment and prioritization skills; general commercial acumen.
Ability to make timely decisions and identify risks and mitigation strategies; ability to work well with and motivate others. A Bachelor degree or equivalent experience and ABA approved paralegal certificate is required.
