Supervisor-Purchase Material Planning

BASIC FUNCTIONResponsible for directing and coordinating the activities of the Purchased Material Planners to ensure the business achieves the highest service level with the lowest inventory cost in North America facilities. Manage and continually improve the policies and procedures for North America business processes for purchase material planning & scheduling. Closely interface between Operations and Purchasing to improve the total supply chain.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIESDelivery - Leadership in root cause analysis and corrective action to reduce Delivery Quality Ratio (DQR) materials and elimination of shortages. Continuous expansion of the electronic Kan Ban and the store sizing programs currently in place within Kohler to ensure a continuous flow of material from suppliers to meet end customer delivery expectations.Cost (Inventory) - Leadership in root cause analysis and corrective action to reduce excess inventory to improve turns and Inventory Quality Ratio (IQR). Included is visibility of external supplier warehouse inventory to understand company exposure during material effectivity decision making.Continuous Improvement - On-going planning and procurement business process improvement to increase associates efficiency in North America purchase planning. Move greater ownership of planning, scheduling, delivery and quality accountability to the supplier through use of the Supplier Portal.Business Process Standardization - As improved and new business processes are developed, share their development with other plants in Global Faucets with the goal of standardizing across all plants. Develop and maintain ISO procedures related to purchase material planning and scheduling.Change Management - Leadership in the business process of procurement changes, obsolescence and engineering changes in order to maintain high delivery levels and eliminate excess inventory.Education - Promote, teach and lead a uniform understanding of planning, delivery and inventory control for purchased material decision making in all areas; Strategic Sourcing, New Products Purchasing and Planning groups.RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTSSupervisory Relationships:

Direct supervision of Purchased Material PlannersOrganization Relationships:
Joint development of business processes with the Manager-Materials at Arkansas Faucet Operations
Continuous communication with Business Unit Managers and Purchasing.
Frequent collaborative associations with senior management in Operations, Quality-Receiving and Inspection, Purchasing, Planning, Marketing and New Product Development.External Business Relationships:
Located in Kohler, WI with occasional travel to supplier locations and Kohler manufacturing facilities.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSBachelors Degree required with an emphasis in Business, Operations Management or Supply Chain preferred, with six years of work experience in material planning and purchasing in a manufacturing environment. Experience in inventory management, ERP, MRP and KanBan systems. High proficiency in use of analytical tools including Microsoft Excel.Ideal candidate will understand drawings, specifications and process capability and have experience in a multi-plant environment. Certification in ISM (Institute of supply Management) and/or APICS is a plus.
