SENIOR BUYER

In this key position you will be responsible for sourcing, specification and development of new products for resale and promotional use to Club Members via direct mail. You will source new products through vendor meetings, trade shows and market research. You will be responsible for negotiation of costs and terms, obtaining product information and samples, providing creative direction and monitoring the manufacturing and delivery of product.

Description

•Develop and source products for resale and promotional use via direct mail for handyman, gardening and/or cooking categories. Products will be developed for solo mailings and continuity programs as well as other direct marketing media programs. New products need to be developed on-time according to mail schedules.

•Develop and maintain quality assurance standards and procedures. Maintain acceptable quality levels of products and premiums from the initial sample stage through receipt of goods at the fulfillment center. Coordinate testing of goods to insure quality standards are met.

•Supervise, develop and support Merchandise Coordinator and other support staff as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
To succeed in this position, you will need: a 4-year business/marketing or related degree and 4-7 years of related experience in a buying role preferably in a direct marketing environment. Excellent negotiation skills, buying experience of consumer goods in multiple categories (handyman, gardening and/or cooking), inventory management, familiarity and experience with foreign manufacturing sources, excellent written and verbal communication and reporting skills and excellent organization skills required.
