Purchasing and Inventory Control Manager

We are presently looking to fill the position of Purchasing and Inventory Control Manager. This position is responsible for directing, formulating and monitoring procedures, policies and processes as they relate to the procurement and materials management functions within the company; evidencing progress and goals with reportable metrics. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Source and negotiate contracts for goods and services by scrutinizing vendor bids or proposals and selecting sources based upon due diligence analysis. Manages incoming movement of materials to ensure material requirements are met at the job site and in the plant. Monitors material and supply inventories to ensure on-hand quantities match current requirements and recommends disposition for slow moving or obsolete material/equipment. Create, implement, and manage a Supplier Certification Program for vendors deemed as critical to the success of the company by measuring best costs, quality, on-time deliveries, and customer service. Develop and maintain E-Procurement and Material Requirements Planning capabilities. Create, implement, and maintain a Cycle Counting Program. Organizes and leads activities with internal customers and vendors on any procurement, inventory control issue or opportunity with a focused goal of attaining World Class status in Procurement and Inventory Control. Maintains records, replenishes stock, and plans for future requirements based on orders, production scheduled and forecasts. Provides support to production scheduling on all material flow issues to meet production schedules and customer requirements. Initiates a backorder process for early detection and resolution prior to adversely affecting shipments or production. Ensures “return to vendor” issues are identified and timely resolved. Directs, guides and supervises assigned personnel.
REQUIREMENTS
The Qualified candidate will have the following minimum requirements: • College degree required. • 6-8 years minimum of related experience • Knowledge of fire protection systems and/or pipe products a plus • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) designation A MUST • Materials Management software implementation experience • Knowledge of Microsoft Products with intermediate skill level in Word and Excel • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Excellent organizational skills
